First gala day

SSG's had their first gala day at Watsonia Heights Soccer Club on Saturday. Over 30 under 6's, 7's and 8's competed in 5-a-side games against Watsonia Heights, Bulleen and Diamond Valley soccer clubs. All the kids had a fantastic day. For many it was their first ever competitive sporting event and all Eltham North kids represented themselves and the club brilliantly (and they looked great in their new strip).

Under 11's first victory this season!

Congratulations to the Eltham Under 11 North Kangaroos Blue team who had their first win of the season on Sunday beating Alphington 2-0.

The Under 11s Blue team now sits in seventh position in their competition with two draws and a win - one point above Lalor United.

Under 15 girls and Under 11 Joeys also had solid wins on the weekend making this round the club's most successful this season.

Good luck to all teams in the upcoming fixture and hopefully we can get a few more wins on the board!

Uniform sales day

There will be a uniform sales day on the 25th of April from 2.30pm.

It just so *happens* that this time coincides with the senior men's main game kick-off at 3pm. We are playing newcomers to Provisional 3 South-East League, Old Trinity Grammar.

Old Trinity were relegated from Prov. 2 League in 2008, however they have scored 7 goals in their first two games for the 2009 season - so it's shaping up to be a goal-fest on ANZAC Day!

Hope to see you down there, to buy some kit and to watch the men's game.

Watsonia help out the men

Our friends over at Watsonia Heights SC have provided the Eltham Provisional 3 South-East First and Reserve teams with a ground for this Saturday's clash against newcomers to the league Bentleigh East.

Bentleigh East won their first game against the other Prov 3 débutantes, Old Trinity Grammar in a hotly contested 4-3 game.

It has been some time since Eltham men played Bentleigh East in the old Amateur League - so the two teams are looking to re-ignite some competition on the weekend.

Catch all the action with a 3pm kick-off at Gabonia Reserve, Watsonia!

SSF information
All you need to know about Optus Small-sided Football for 2009!

What you will need when your child turns up to play?

* Aim to be on time. This means we can start on time and get the most from the morning sessions.
* Have a fun attitude! That’s why we’re all here… Remember, there are no ladders kept or results recorded; the emphasis is on having fun and learning, not winning.
* Wear the appropriate sports gear, i.e. shorts, t-shirt or football top, football boots, socks and SHIN GUARDS.
* A water bottle.
* Parent HELPERS - Parents are encouraged to volunteer as a Game Leaders and play an active role at the club. The Game Leaders are primarily responsible for supervising and refereeing participants while they are playing. We’ll be seeking regular volunteers at the start of every session, so please let Paul (or Simon) know if your keen to help in anyway – the more the better.

Also, note that:

* Last year we had over 60 kids participate in the session. At present we are on track to achieve the same numbers, however all are welcome, so feel free to invite friends
* All kids wishing to play will need to have registered and have paid the $170 fee (payable to ENSC). For those of you who haven’t done this yet, you can register online at http://www.elthamnorthsc.com/page.php?50 or call Carol McDonald from ENSC.
* DO NOT bring your own ball, ENSC will supply balls. From experiences in the past, there is a good chance that the ball you bring will be lost or taken by someone else.
* Orders will be taken for club jerseys /tops for the kids early in the season and these will be supplied at no further cost to you. Many of you received one from last season and we encourage you to bring it along and use it this year. Your child will receive a new top this year if you wish.
* Yes we do generally play in the wet and the rain as long as it’s manageable and doesn’t pose risks to the kids or cause to much damage to the grounds
* Optus SSF Gala Days will be scheduled during the season to allow kids the opportunity to play against different opposition from different clubs. The Gala Days will take place on 4 of the scheduled SSF dates, with locations to be confirmed shortly:

Where?

Eltham North Soccer Club

Cedar ave, Eltham North

We will from time to time utilise the venue at Plenty park, 1 Memorial drive, Yan Yean rd, Plenty.

When?

The season will start at 10am Sharp on 11th April 2009

Please note: In the event of rain, games are only cancelled at the commencement time on the day. Considerations are made to the safety of players, so unless the grounds are unplayable or it’s a storm, we play. Besides, the kids love it!

Who to contact with any queries?

* Paul CARIDI co -coordinator 0409 521 034 (ssg@elthamnorthsc.com)
* Carol McDONALD Junior Registrar (registrar@elthamnorthsc.com)

Why bank transfer?
Since 2008 the ENSC Committee has recommended that all members pay by bank transfer. There's lots of good reasons why bank transfer is the best way to pay for fees:

1. Cash can't go missing while in process between the Member, the Team Manager and the Treasurer.
2. You always have a record of the payment on your bank statement so if you are still marked unpaid in our Player DB you can say, "But I paid on the 24th of March at 3.12pm!" - and we can examine our statements to verify
3. You can do it from home using your internet banking or telephone banking service.

Following on from 2008 it has been the most popular method of payment so far in 2009 which is great to see.

Our bank details for those who are still yet to fix up their fees:

Bank: Westpac
BSB: 033-053
Account number: 319 542
Account name: Eltham North Soccer and Sporting Club
